For many people, a “scientist” is someone who wears a white lab coat (often a white male). I think it is important to show that scientists are also people, with hobbies, families and lives beyond the lab (or field). It shouldn’t matter what you look like, how you dress, or where you came from – anyone can be a scientist. When I’m not science-ing, I can be found hanging out with my family and dog, playing ultimate frisbee, running, or creating Renaissance faire-inspired cosplays.
